More Than 130,000 Skip Hop Night Lights Recalled for Possible Electric Shock
Make sure you check your child’s night light this evening. Skip Hop, a baby product brand, has recalled its Moonlight & Melodies nightlight soothers. The USB wall adapter can break and pose an electrical shock danger. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission reports there has been at least one incident of electrical shock.
The night lights were sold at Babies R Us, Buy Buy Baby, Target, Skiphop.com, Amazon.com, and other retailers in the United States and Canada. They were sold between July 2016 and August 2017 for about $40. The soothers are in the shapes of an owl and an elephant that play nature sounds and project images. About 130,000 units are affected with a faulty USB adapter.
Skip Hop said in a statement, “This is an isolated issue which only affects the USB wall adapter, not one-piece cord adapters,” but customers should immediately stop using the night lights and contact Skip Hop. Unfortunately, adapters cannot be returned or replaced at retail locations, but you can order your replacement USB here. To contact Skip Hop by email, go to recall@skiphop.com, and to call Skip Hop, dial 888-282-4674. Customer service is available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
Skip Hop also said in the statement, “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our consumers and appreciate their understanding in this matter.”
