3 Anti-Aging Makeup Tricks That Will Take Years Off Your Face
With drugstore beauty products, you can look younger with these tricks of the trade.
Like magicians for the face, makeup artists know how to trick the eye into seeing an ageless facade. Here, their savvy sleight-of-hand secrets to gorgeous!
Plump lips with ‘disappearing’ concealer.
Before applying lipstick, dot a concealer in your skin tone (like L.A. Girl HD Pro Concealer, ($3.49, Buy at Ulta, which comes in 43 shades) all around the top and bottom borders of lips; blend it out with a makeup sponge. The concealer blurs the outline of lips so you can apply lipstick above and below lip lines to create the illusion of a fuller yet still natural-looking pout.
Lift eyes with an eyebrow color ‘gradient’ trick.
Dip an angled brush into a matte eyeshadow one shade darker than brow hairs (we like Ulta Eyeshadow Singles, Ulta.com) and draw soft, hair-like strokes from the brow’s inner corner out to mid-brow, then use heavier strokes to add color from mid-brow to tail. The ombré effect pulls focus up and out to “thicker” ends, giving eyes a lifted look.
Smooth lines with an illusion primer.
Mix three drops of liquid foundation with three drops of a pearlescent primer (like Neutrogena Healthy Skin Radiant Booster Primer & Serum, $14.97, Buy at Walmart), then apply all over the face with a sponge. The primer thins foundation for a sheer wash of color that won’t settle into lines, while its illuminating particles deflect light from the face to visually diminish wrinkles.
