This Smart Mug Controls Your Coffee Temp From Your Phone
We’ve all been there: You pour yourself a cup of joe from the office coffee pot and head back to your desk, only to be sucked in by a project. By the time you’re through and go to take a sip, bleh! You’re met with cold, less-than-tasty coffee. Well, your days of being robbed of enjoying your java to the fullest have come to pass, thanks to one nifty smart ceramic mug called the Ember (from $69.99, Amazon). This temperature-controlled cup has the power to keep your beverages ready for drinking at the *exact* degree you prefer.
Simply pour your hot liquid in and turn the Ember on to regulate coffee to a pre-set 130 degrees Fahrenheit. It can also be paired with the free Ember app, which allows you to set a temperature from your phone or smart watch between 120 to 145 degrees — a sweet spot for java drinkers. (A 2006 study showed that coffee consumers’ preferred temperature was around 140 degrees.)

Featuring a stainless steel interior with ceramic coating, this mug will automatically maintain the chosen temperature for up to an hour and a half when off its charger. If placed on the included charging base, however, it can keep drinks warm all day long!
Your temperature of choice can also be pre-set, so keeping your drink hot will be as simple as pouring your beverage in and turning the cup on. While the Ember is intended for use with already-hot liquids, it could, in theory, even be used to re-heat your cold brew, though it’s not recommended. Not only will it take a good long while (30 minutes to an hour), it will drain your battery fast.
