Black Friday shopping can be notoriously hectic. Crowds of people line up for hours, sometimes even forgoing their entire Thanksgiving feast in order to be among the first folks to rush into a store and snag the deal they’ve been dreaming of.

Cyber Monday and pre-Black Friday price slashing have helped to calm down the chaos a bit. Still, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of accomplishment you can get by rallying against a turkey-induced tryptophan haze to nab all of the special items on your list by hand.

If this rings true to you, you’ll probably recognize yourself in more than a few of the photos below. We don’t mean literally, but you might notice someone using the same sale-snagging strategy — or clearly feeling the same level of exhaustion that can hit before you even make it to the checkout line.

Plus, these pics are a reminder to be extra kind to the poor retail employees who have to deal with the annual influx of shoppers this time of year. Remember: They’re people too.

Take a look before you head out to hit the shops this Black Friday!
