The $14 Product That Helped Me Say Goodbye to My Inner Thigh Chafing for Good
While there are numerous benefits to the summer and its warm weather, there’s one negative in particular that women know to be true: thigh chafing. So when Megababe’s Thigh Rescue anti-chafing stick debuted to much acclaim, I was more than intrigued. It isn’t the first anti-chafing product to hit the market, so what made this colorful little tube stand out from the rest? I put it to the test to find out.
What is thigh chafing?
Before we get to the actual product, let’s break down the science behind thigh chafing for anyone lucky enough to be unfamiliar with the experience. Thigh chafing is the result of consistent skin-to-skin contact (better known as rubbing) between your thighs, which causes friction and can lead to a burning, bumpy rash. Warm weather can exacerbate this issue because it causes sweating, which leaves behind salt crystals when it evaporates. That grit can make thigh chafing even more painful.
Megababe Thigh Rescue Anti-Chafing Stick Review
So, let’s talk about Megababe. Founded by The 12ish Style‘s Kate Sturino, her sister Jenny Sturino, and friend Kate McPherson, this isn’t your average beauty brand. At Megababe, you won’t find a hundred shades of lipstick or the buzziest foundations. Instead, it offers dozens of beauty products you didn’t even know you needed. The brand’s thought process is finding simple solutions to everyday problems women experience — like thigh chafing!
And a solution it is. Packaged in a vintage-inspired deodorant-like tube, Megababe’s Thigh Rescue ($14, Ulta) is a quick and easy way to kiss thigh chafing goodbye. Made with a blend of anti-inflammatory and antiseptic ingredients like aloe, grapeseed oil, and lime oil, this balm creates a soothing barrier on the skin, allowing thighs to glide against one another without causing any irritation.
I was floored by this product after trying it. Over the years, I’ve tested every preventative home remedy from baby powder and vaseline to deodorant and, yes, even vaginal cream, to no avail. So, you could imagine how nervous I was the first day I tried this. Before Thigh Rescue, I wouldn’t dare walk out of my house in a dress without a pair of shorts beneath. But armed with an extra pair of shorts (just to be safe), I made my way to work on a 90-degree day in my favorite sundress praying I’d make it there rash-free. Not only did I arrive feeling fabulous, but I also lasted the entire day on one application. While my initial affair with Megababe was short-lived (hot cars and this balmy product don’t mix), I’m hooked. As long as they keep making this product, they’ll have a fan in me for life.
