When it comes to summer sides, slaws are at the top of my list. They’re easy to make, and you can serve ’em with just about anything from sandwiches to barbecued chicken and grilled steak. But I’m always on the lookout for clever ways to mix things up. That’s why this Warm Bacon-Kissed Brussels Sprouts Slaw recipe is a new favorite. It comes together in no time. And with only 5 ingredients, cleanup is a breeze.
When preparing dishes with just a few ingredients, it’s key to coax out the most flavor. We crisp up bacon in a skillet, then add olive oil to the drippings before stirring in onions and shredded sprouts. This infuses the veggies with another layer of smoky deliciousness. Then for even more of a pop, add a splash of apple cider vinegar to release all those crispy bits from the bottom. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

Ingredients
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 2 Tbs. olive oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 (9 oz.) pkgs. Brussels sprouts, trimmed, halved and sliced
- 2 Tbs. apple cider vinegar
- Apple slices (optional)
Instructions
PrintIn skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp; using slotted spoon, transfer to paper towels.
Add enough oil to bacon drippings to equal three tablespoons. Add onion; cook until tender, four minutes, stirring. Add sprouts; cook until tender, three to five minutes, stirring. Stir in vinegar, 3/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Sprinkle with bacon. If desired, garnish with apple slices.
