Healthy + Easy Turkey Waldorf Salad Recipe Takes Just 20 Minutes to Whip Up

We gave the classic a protein-packed upgrade!

It’s easy to associate the Waldorf salad with the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York, as that’s where the dish originated. With its roots dating back to 1896, the luxurious plate was created by Oscar Tschirky, a Swiss-American restaurateur who was the maître d’hôtel at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel at the time. Tschirky made his with celery, apples, grapes, walnuts and mayonnaise, and typically used all green varieties of the ingredients for an aesthetically pleasing meal. For our Turkey Waldorf Salad recipe, we pay homage to the original while adding a protein twist.

We use roasted turkey in our recipe upgrade, which gives a savory contrast to the mix of sweet fruit in Waldorf salad. We also use golden raisins as well as both red and green apples. However, you can mix and match the types of apples, grapes or raisins to your liking. This acts as the perfect side dish, but can also make a great lunch.
