Cheese Biscuits with Chive Butter

These warm flaky biscuits are a cinch to whip up with convenient baking mix, cornmeal, and rich Cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

  • 3 c. Bisquick baking mix + additional
  • 1 c. yellow cornmeal
  • 1 c. shredded white Cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/4 c. milk
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • 1/2 c. butter at room temperature
  • 1 tbsp. chopped fresh thyme

Instructions

Heat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Blend baking mix, cornmeal, and cheese; stir in milk until dough forms. Lightly sprinkle surface with baking mix. Knead dough on surface until smooth, one minute. Roll out to one-inch thickness.

Using 2 1/2-inch round cutter, cut out biscuits, rerolling scraps as necessary. Place biscuits on ungreased baking sheet; brush tops with egg. Bake nine to 10 minutes or until golden. Cool slightly. Mix butter and thyme. Brush over warm biscuits.
