This Toasty Ham Sandwiches Recipe Is a Not-So-Basic Lunch in 15 Minutes

These satisfying bites are better with herb-infused cream cheese

The humble ham sandwich: a lunchbox staple and a timeless comfort food. But sometimes, even the classics crave a refresh. This toasty ham sandwiches recipe totally reimagines the simple combo. We added protein-packed hard-boiled eggs and crisp cucumber slices for a fresh kick. The star of the show, however, is the creamy chive cream cheese spread. Luscious and herbaceous, it adds a touch of richness and complexity that elevates the sandwich from ordinary to delicious.

This toasty ham sandwiches recipe requires perfectly cooked hard-boiled eggs. To do so, place your eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring. the water to a boil, then immediately remove the pan from the heat and cover it. Let the eggs sit for 10-12 minutes for a soft yolk and 14-16 minutes for a firmer yolk. We also have tricks for keeping them from cracking and how to peel them.
