Here at the First for Women test kitchen, we’re big fans of bread and cheese. That’s what inspired this Herbed Italian Cheesy Bread recipe. It’s a large crusty loaf loaded with the ooey-gooey goodness we all crave. Plus, it’s a real crowd-pleaser too! You can even prep it the night before, so all you have to do when guests start arriving is pop it into the oven.
Cutting a crosshatch pattern into the loaf creates an abundance of pockets to stuff with delicious ingredients. For best results, slice the bread lengthwise at 3/4″ intervals about 3/4 of the way down, then repeat crosswise. Spoon the butter and garlic mixture in the long cuts and fill horizontal cuts with cheese for evenly distributed flavor throughout. We use nutty Asiago and melty Italian 3-cheese blend, but you can sub in your favorites. Give this impressive side a try, then let us know what you think.
