Grilled Honey-Lime Chicken Recipe Will Be Your New 5-Ingredient Barbecue Favorite

It’s unlike any BBQ chicken you’ve had previously as it uses a 5-ingredient glaze that infuses the meat with sweet and tangy flavors. The meat is also evenly cooked thanks to a simple trick of starting the grilling process on direct heat for a few minutes and then finishing it on indirect heat. This allows the meat to develop a nicely charred crust while the flesh cooks up to succulent perfection. 

The best part about this recipe is that you can mix-and-match the ingredients to suit your taste buds. Add a tangier flavor by using sweet Asian chili sauce in place of Tabasco; or use substitute orange zest and juice for a sweeter citrus flavor.   • ½ cup honey
  • ½ tsp. grated lime zest
  • 2 Tbs. fresh lime juice
  • Dash green Tabasco sauce or more to taste
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 5 lbs. assorted chicken pieces


• Prepare grill for medium direct and indirect-heat cooking. In small bowl, combine honey, lime zest, juice and Tabasco; reserve.

• In separate small bowl, combine garlic powder, ½ tsp. salt and ¼ tsp. pepper; rub over chicken. Place chicken meaty skin side down on grill over direct heat. Cook until just browned, 2–4 min. Turn pieces over and place over indirect heat. Cover grill; cook until chicken is no longer pink near bones, 25–40 min., brushing with reserved glaze during last 10 min. of cooking time. Let stand 5 min. before serving.
