Our Cheesy Fondue Recipe Will Have You Hooked From The First Dip

What better way to gather with friends than around a warm pot of melty cheese with a loaf of crusty French bread for dipping? Our creamy fondue is the perfect appetizer on date night or game night or as a centerpiece at your next celebration. Fondue is typically a combination of different cheeses and white wine; for our version, we use Gruyere and fontina, with a dash of garlic and mustard for extra flavor. This communal pot of cheesy joy originated in Switzerland, and according to fondue connoisseurs, the very best part comes at the end, when the remaining remnants of cheese collect at the bottom and get crispy. Be sure to get every last bite!

What Other Foods Are Good For Dipping?

While bread is usually the number-one choice for enjoying fondue, some other delicious dipping options include soft pretzel bites, hot dogs, cooked sausages, raw veggies, roasted potatoes, tortilla chips and even meatballs. Arrange the different foods around the fondue pot so guests can skewer up their favorites.

In bowl, combine Gruyère, fontina, flour and mustard; toss until cheeses are completely coated; reserve. Rub medium heavy pot with garlic; discard garlic.

Pour wine into pot; over medium heat, bring wine just to a simmer. Gradually add reserved cheese mixture, 1⁄4 cup at a time, stirring constantly in figure-8 motion until cheese is melted, about 20 min.

Carefully transfer fondue to heatproof serving bowl or heated fondue pot. Serve with bread for dipping.
