Ingredients
- 4 cups apple cider
- 2 cinnamon sticks + additional
- ½ tsp. whole cloves
- 3 (2″-long) strips lemon zest
- ½ cup bourbon
- Light corn syrup
- Coarse white decorating sugar
- Ice cubes
- 1 apple, cored, thinly sliced
- Star anise pod
Instructions
- In pot, combine apple cider, 2 cinnamon sticks, cloves and lemon zest; over medium heat, bring to simmer. Remove from heat. Cover and let steep 5 min. Strain cider mixture into heatproof container; cool. Stir in bourbon. Cover and chill, about 2 hrs.
- Working with one at a time, brush rims of 4 glasses with corn syrup; dip into decorating sugar. Invert glasses; reserve.
- When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice. Divide cider mixture among glasses; garnish with apple slices, cinnamon stick and star anise.
