Kate Middleton Was Adorable as a 9-Year-Old Bridesmaid

Tags:

In 2011, people across the globe obsessed over Kate Middleton’s epic royal wedding (including sister Pippa Middleton’s figure-hugging white dress). But footage from another wedding that took place more than two decades ago show Kate Middleton as a shy, young girl.

This never-before-seen video was obtained by the Daily Mail, and it captures the 1991 nuptials between Carole Middleton’s brother, Gary Goldsmith, and bride Miranda Foote. A beaming 9-year-old Kate is accompanied by a 7-year-old Pippa, who grimaces in annoyance and fidgets with her floral crown.

In their pale pink dresses with puffy sleeves and roses along the neckline, the Middleton sisters look downright adorable as bridesmaids. Younger brother James isn’t left out; the 3-year-old served as the ceremony’s page boy.

A proud-looking Carole Middleton dazzles in a blue patterned dress and hat, quietly keeping an eye on her mostly well-behaved kids.

Outside St. Peter’s Church in Buckinghamshire, England, James flashes a huge grin as he stands with the groomsmen. Kate waves to the camera as Pippa holds her older sister’s hand, looking very uncomfortable.

After the ceremony, the family gathers for a meal. Uncle Gary gives gifts to all the bridesmaids, including Kate and Pippa. As she gets her present, Pippa cracks a genuine smile for the first time in the video. Even from a young age, Kate exudes a sense of gracefulness as she politely accepts her uncle’s tokens.

This nostalgic footage hints at Pippa’s wedding to fiance James Matthews in May. We can’t wait to see what part Princess Charlotte and Prince George will play in the big day!
