A couple from Georgia got the shock of their lives recently when a suspected bout of kidney stones turned into something much more exciting: a new baby.
When Stephanie Jaegers was experiencing severe stomach pains recently, she headed to the hospital in Stockbridge, GA to get checked out.
Moments later, doctors explained to her that she wasn't dealing with kidney pain after all; in fact, she was 38 weeks pregnant and about to give birth.
According to a noteworthy Facebook post made by her husband, Michael, baby boy Shaun Jude Jaegers was born at 3:50 a.m., weighing around 7 pounds and appearing quite healthy, even without prenatal care, and super adorable to boot.
We know what you're thinking: How is that possible that someone doesn't realize she's expecting a baby? It turns out, Stephanie had plenty of good reasons.
"Steph was diagnosed with pre-menopause awhile back, which would justify the hormone imbalance also associated with a pregnancy," explained Michael in a follow-up Facebook post. "The baby was also breech throughout the entire pregnancy, which prevented him from moving around to indicate to Steph that he was in there, and his position made it to where Steph didn't 'show.'" Laid up for several weeks due to an ankle injury, she also continued to have her period throughout the pregnancy, which is rare but possible, say her doctors.
It seems that the stunned parents are doing well with their newly expanded family.
"I can't even begin to explain to you guys the range of emotions we've experienced over the last 12 hours. I went from googling 'kidney stone treatments' to a panic attack over the fact that not only were we pregnant, but the baby was coming within the hour," Michael wrote.
Can you imagine?!
