Bridesmaids is undoubtedly one funny flick. We could watch it over and over and over again and still howl with laughter at Kristen Wiig's hilarious lines and the absolutely on-point portrayal of passive-aggressive female friendships. C'mon, we've all been involved in a battle of the best friends at some point, haven't we?
Despite spending many a girl's nights in cocooned in a duvet chuckling away at the plane scene in between mouthfuls of chow mein, there is one part of the film we often skip past.
And it turns out Kristen's not a big fan either (but not for reasons you might think).
Yep. We're of course talking about the infamous bridal shop food poisoning scene, which, it turns out, was definitely not in the original script.
Kristen has revealed she was "strongly encouraged" to add it in because clearly, characters in a female-led film had to still just had to act like men.
Speaking on The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast, she explained: "When people say, 'Oh, we’re gonna give more female-centered movies a chance,' you’re not reading the fine print, which is, 'Oh, but, they have to be like this.' They want to see women acting like guys."
She continued: "The scene in Bridesmaids was not our idea and it was not in the original script and we didn’t love it.
"It was strongly suggested for us to put that in there. I didn’t want to see people sh*tting and puking."
Ew, we couldn't agree more!
