These Jersey Bedsheets Are Perfect For Summer — And No, They’re Not Too Hot

Now that we’re pulling out our cooling products and breathable duvets for summer, jersey may seem like an odd fabric choice for sheets. But I’m here to make the case for this much-maligned material. For the last few weeks I’ve been testing Splendid’s jersey sheets ($79.87-$120, Nordstrom), and I’m sleeping better than ever.

While I’ve never had problems falling asleep, staying that way has been a whole different issue. I tend to run cold before bed, which means I like curling up under all the blankets even when it’s 90 degrees outside. But quite often, I would end up waking up in the middle of the night sweating my you know what off. That is, until I tried these sheets. Now I sleep straight through until morning.

Splendid’s jersey sheets are made of 100 percent cotton, so they’re light, airy, and, most importantly, breathable. Despite their thinness, they are incredibly soft, which makes bedtime feel especially luxurious. I like to lie spread-eagle on the bed sometimes making snow angles so I can feel the velvety smooth jersey material on my freshly shaved legs. (It’s the little things in life!)

And washing these sheets is a breeze! As someone who’s guilty of not folding the laundry the minute the dryer finishes its last rotation, I used to end up with some seriously wrinkled sheets. But that’s not an issue with cotton jersey. Even after sitting in the dryer for a few hours, when I pull them from the barrel they’re wrinkle-free. Heck, I can even get away with not making the bed (gasp!) and still not notice a crease in the sheets when I crawl into bed at night.

Another benefit of jersey bedding is how versatile it is. There are plenty of moisture-wicking sheets on the market that are meant for warm weather, but then I’ll have to deal with getting a new set come wintertime. Jersey bed sheets are a great middle ground. They keep me cool enough in the summer and warm enough in the winter, so that I don’t have to clutter my closet with bed sheets for every season. Plus, I love how the classic striped pattern adds a chicness to my room.

Even my partner — who would honestly prefer to just sleep on the same sheets for months without ever washing them (Sheesh, men, am I right?) — remarked on how much he likes our new bedding. If you’re looking for affordable, high-quality sheets, I can’t recommend these more.
