Savannah Guthrie’s Birthday Celebration Was the Sweetest — Literally
Birthday wishes are in order for Savannah Guthrie. While some people get breakfast in bed for their birthdays, the Today anchor celebrated her 46th with her family in quite literally the sweetest way possible — a delicious-looking red velvet birthday cake for breakfast! “Everyone’s wish came true #CakeForBreakfast,” the mom-of-two captioned the two adorable pics on Instagram.
Clearly, 3-year-old Vale enjoyed her mom’s birthday cake as well! Savannah welcomed her first child back in August 2014, and then gave birth to her son, Charley, in December 2016. She shares her two children with husband Michael Feldman, whom she married back in 2014.
The new 46-year-old has always gushed about her adorable kids and the task of motherhood. “I deal with the chaos of parenting by trying to remember what’s important and enjoying every moment of this,” she said in an interview with People. “That they know that they are unique and loved and treasured, but they also know that they are just one person in the universe. I think having both of those concepts in their hearts will really help them.”
“My little girl makes me laugh all the time because she speaks like a little adult,” Savannah added. “I came home the other day and I was in my workout gear and she said, ‘Hi, Mommy, how was your workout?’ I said, ‘Great, do you want to go to the park?’ And she said, ‘Yes, I need some fresh air.’ So she amazes me every single day.” So cute!
Hopefully, Savannah’s birthday was a happy distraction from her close friend and co-anchor Matt Lauer’s abrupt firing from Today. The longtime anchor was let go back in November following multiple sexual harassment allegations, and Savannah and fellow-anchor Hoda Kotb are picking up the pieces. “They’re still hurt, reeling over the details of Matt’s disgusting behavior. He had to go, and now Savannah and Hoda are better friends because of it — and their show is doing better than it was before. Privately, they’re proud of the success,” an NBC insider revealed to Life & Style.
“They have not cut him off,” the insider continued. “They are hugely disappointed, but they won’t forget how supportive he’s been of them personally.”
