Reese Witherspoon Applauds Fan Who Nailed Every 'Jeopardy' Question About Her

Even with over 50 years on air, Jeopardy is still full of surprises and the unexpected. Though sometimes considered an intense trivia game for brainiacs only, host Alex Trebek has been known to pull answers from pop culture to shake up the high-stakes game. That's what happened on Monday’s show, when Alex introduced a category near and dear to many of our hearts: Reese Witherspoon movies. As luck would have it, a die-hard fan named Emily happened to be playing, and she wiped through the category in seconds, delighting the A-list actress — yes, she was watching! — as well as viewers everywhere.

With a near 30-year career as an actress, the blonde Southern belle has several hit movies we all know and cherish — and for most of us, knowledge of Witherspoon's films is most useful for choosing a rom-com to watch for a comforting night at home. But knowing the star's extensive catalog of feel-good movies by heart really paid off for Jeopardy contestant Emily, who didn’t so much as break a sweat as she went from question to question — not even when her opponent attempted to steal the first answer (which was Walk the Line) away from her. This was clearly her moment to shine!

All things told, she swept the category in under a minute, which caused Alex to reply, "You ran the category! You're a big Reese Witherspoon fan, and it paid off."

Needless to say, it was impressive to watch. Even Witherspoon herself thought so, posting a video of the entire exchange to her social media accounts, cheering on Emily and commenting that it made her day to see an entire category dedicated to her on the famed game show. The game show sent the compliment right back, tweeting “Making [Reese Witherspoon's] day makes our day!”

Plenty of fans of Witherspoon also celebrated the moment, saying the contestant's flawless entry into the game perfectly embodied Witherspoon's Legally Blonde character Elle Woods quote, "What, like it's hard?"

Too funny! As we said, this is not the first time Jeopardy producers have used popular culture in the show's trivia questions. With clues about everything from Beyonce to popular song lyrics, the show is constantly keeping viewers on their toes and reminding us trivia can be — as Elle Woods might say — super fun.

Reese Witherspoon is hilarious —even when cleaning up her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Watch her adorable antics here:
