Mom Davina Bywater was declared clinically obese when she was only 10 years old. And that did not change for this self-described "secret eater" as she got older.
"Being overweight was a part of my identity from a very early time in my life," Bywater said.
As an adult, weighing 266 pounds and wearing a size 24 dress, she thought her poor eating habits were here to stay. But in 2012, she had a major wake-up call.
Bywater was told that she needed a kidney transplant, but she was too overweight for the surgery.
"When I was told that, I suddenly felt like I was going to die," Bywater said.
Instead, she took up the challenge of losing the weight naturally by cutting out her favorite food--sandwiches. She had gotten into a routine of eating buttery toast and sausage sandwiches every day, and over time it had taken its toll.
But as you can see from the photos, replacing those carb-heavy meals with salads and vegetable curries with cauliflower rice really made a difference.
She was able to slim down to a healthy size 8 and become fit enough for her kidney transplant. She even got small enough to fit both of her legs into one of her old bigger pant legs!
She has a message for people who feel like they can't lose weight, which is how she felt a few years back.
"I know it’s possible, because I’ve done it," she said.
