Meijer Recalls Yogurt After Customer Discovers Glass Shards

Heads up, yogurt fans: There’s a Meijer yogurt recall happening right now, and it’s a pretty scary one. The supercenter chain has voluntarily recalled select Meijer-branded Greek and non-fat yogurt due to the risk of glass contamination, according to the Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

The FDA says Meijer first became aware of this issue after a customer returned a yogurt cup containing two small pieces of glass. After an investigation at the retailer’s manufacturing facility, it appears that there may have been a possible risk of contamination. Yikes!

The good news is that there have been no illnesses, injuries, or additional product concerns since the incident. But the bad news is that some of these products might still be in customers’ fridges — especially since they don’t expire until March. The recalled items were sold in Meijer stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Wisconsin.

Meijer is recalling the following products with an expiration date of March 8, 2018:

Meijer Greek Yogurt 0% Black Cherry 5.3 oz. — UPC 7-08820-12657-2

Meijer Yogurt Low-fat Blueberry 6 oz. — UPC 7-08820-41513-3

Meijer Greek Yogurt 0% Plain 5.3 oz. — UPC 7-60236-11601-1

Meijer Greek Yogurt 0% Vanilla 5.3 oz. — UPC 7-60236-11603-5

Meijer Greek Yogurt 0% Strawberry 5.3 oz. — UPC 7-60236-12418-4

Meijer Greek Yogurt 0% Blueberry 5.3 oz. — UPC 7-60236-12431-3

Customers who purchased those products are urged not to consume them and to instead throw them away or return the products to the nearest Meijer store for a full refund. If you have any questions about this recall, you can call Meijer at 800-543-3704 any day of the week at anytime.
