Kids can be the pickiest of eaters. Whether they’re afraid to eat vegetables or adverse to eating any food that’s not a chicken nugget, it’s always something — which can make dinnertime an extremely frustrating experience for parents. That’s why one British mom’s clever idea to get her toddler to eat whatever she puts on his plate — without throwing a fit — is going viral.
Her trick? Serving her 22-month-old son, George, homemade food in a pizza takeout box ($10 for a pack of eight, Amazon), so he’d feel like he was eating something extra special, made just for him. Terri Munro shared her hack in the private Facebook group Motherload and moms everywhere quickly went ballistic over the sheer brilliance of it all.
“You deserve a gold star, can’t believe I’ve never thought of this before,” one Facebook user commented. “Genius! I’m going to try [something] similar with the plastic tubs from the Chinese takeaway!” another added.

Munro told the Motherload group that she came up with the idea after she noticed her son’s interest in his aunt’s takeout food. He’d apparently been watching his auntie eat from a to-go box and wanted to try it too.
“I thought a healthier and cheaper way would be to buy or make the pizza and stick it in a pizza box, and it works a treat!” Munro shared with her fellow Motherload followers. “We plan on using carrot sticks in the fries box, making healthier food fun to eat. At the end of the day, getting George to eat sometimes is hard work, so anything we can try that makes that process easier is worth a try!”
We’re not saying to give your child a takeout box for every meal, but we definitely think this hack is a great way to get your kids to open their minds and try out new and exciting foods they wouldn’t usually eat otherwise.
