Kathie Lee Gifford, 64, opens up to First for Women, in its cover story on stands now, about the self-care strategies that helped her heal after the loss of her husband of 29 years, Frank, in 2015 and her beloved mother this past September.
Cohost of TODAY and author of The Rock, The Road, and the Rabbi coming out March 6, Kathie Lee relies on a few wellness strategies to keep her spirits up when things get tough.
She starts by taking better care of herself. “I had more time because I wasn’t concerned about Frank and his health,” she tells First. “So I started going to the gym and making myself a little bit more of a priority.”
Kathie also says spending time with family, especially 24 year-old daughter Cassidy, is a must. “Anytime I have Cassidy around me, she says, ‘Mom, let’s go do this’ or ‘Let’s go do that.’ It’s just so daggone fun,” Kathie Lee tells First. “I love to hang out with Cassidy, so anything she wants to do, I’m happy to do it with her.”
Another thing she swears by?
“One thing we just started doing is getting vitamin drips,” Kathie Lee says. “You get an IV, but it’s a vitamin drip. They ask you what things are going on in your life and add nutrients into it, so it’s this very healthy cocktail that goes directly into your bloodstream. I really liked it. You feel very, very revitalized. I’ve done it twice now in two weeks.”
