#TGIF: 3 Feel-Good Stories To Kickstart Your Weekend (Plus Video!)

Tags:

Between errands, social commitments, and work spillover, it’s important to carve out a bit of “me time” on the weekends. This could be watching your favorite “guilty pleasure” TV show or tucking into a cozy corner for a good read. Here at First for Women, we take “me time” seriously, and one of our favorite ways to kickoff a joyful weekend is with a heap of good news. (Because we could all use a counterbalance to life’s less good news.)

Here, in the seventh-edition of our weekly “Feel Good Friday Roundup,” are three things that made us smile this week.

1. Good Samaritan Gives Stray Cat Shelter — And Gets More Than She Bargained For

Adorable cat content will never get old, especially when it involves a stray and a good Samaritan. Reddit user u/catnip4sale shared a post this week detailing the unexpectedly sweet surprise they received after taking in a stray.

“I met a friendly stray about two weeks ago, gave her food and water, and showed her how to get to my bedroom window,” they wrote in the post. “Today, she brought me all four of her newborn kittens.”

It’s safe to say that cats really do know how to charm their way into their owners’ hearts.

2. 83-Year-Old Woman Proves She’s a Tough Mudder…Again

Mildred Wilson takes the phrase “tackle the obstacles” literally. The 83-year-old recently completed her third Tough Mudder race, which involves a series of high-endurance-testing obstacle courses.

Wilson was inspired to run the race after seeing her son, Danny, do it. After visiting her doctor to confirm it was safe for her to run, Wilson joined her local YMCA and began training.

“The very first obstacle I believe was getting down on our hands and knees and crawling under barbed wire, in mud! From that point on, you were pretty much muddy,” she told KFVS after finishing her first race.

Fast forward to today, and Wilson is taking on whatever obstacles life and Tough Mudder throw at her — from a giant ice bath to dashing through 10,000 volts of electricity. See her in action in the video below!

3. Prince William and Kate Middleton Sing Everyone’s Favorite Children’s Song

Prince William and Kate Middleton visited Scotland this week, where they dedicated some of their outings to mental health initiatives.

One of the engagements that captured the hearts of many was their visit to St. John’s Primary School. The royal couple attended the school’s “Roots of Empathy session,” a program that helps foster empathy in young children.

In this clip posted to Good Morning America’s Twitter, you can see William and Kate sweetly singing “Wheels on the Bus” during the session with the kids.

We hope you enjoyed the seventh-edition of our weekly Feel Good Friday Roundup. Have an inspiring and joy-filled weekend!
