Any Hollywood relationship that lasts longer than a few weeks can seem rare and worthy of celebration. Although Hugh Jackman is now one of the biggest names in the film industry, he and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, haven’t let any of the glitz and glamour make a dent in their romance.
The couple, who’ve been married for 23 years, met back in 1995 while appearing on the Australian TV show Correlli. They got married the following year and have two children, son Oscar, 18, and daughter Ava, 13. Jackman admitted that meeting each other before any of the hoopla of fame could cloud things probably helped their relationship start off strong — and stay that way. “I really think it helps that we were not together before any of that,” he told TODAY, “So we’ve been on this unbelievable journey, places we never thought we’d go to and we’ve done it together.”
Though Jackman may be the one in the couple who’s graced the cover of magazines calling him things like the “Sexist Man Alive,” he’s not shy about how he hit the jackpot with Furness. “And then if you marry the sexiest, funniest, most beautiful woman in the world, that’s a great start," he continued. You can see him sharing similarly lovey-dovey posts on his social media, like the one below with the sweet hashtag “mydebs.”
Jackman also spilled that he and Furness refuse to go to bed angry. “We never go to bed on a cross word. Sometimes it’s 3 in the morning, but we kind of work it out before we go to sleep.” On top of that, they never spend more than two weeks apart and rely on being completely honest with each other. “I think in relationships, you gotta be yourself, even the bits you don’t love, the bits you’re embarrassed about or things you did wrong. If you’re in a situation where you can be yourself and be really honest, that’s a good start.” You can’t argue with that kind of advice.
We’re looking forward to seeing even more adorable moments from this sweet couple!
