The number of teaspoons of sugar you like in your tea says more about you than the strength of your sweet tooth, according to a new study. The sweeter a person takes their tea, the lower their income--at least in the UK--according to original data collected by The Grocer.
Just 26 percent of the highest income class will take their tea with some amount of sugar, whereas over a third of those in the lowest income bracket prefer their brew sweetened. In fact, people who collect a low income are twice as likely to dose their daily tea with two or more sugars than those who take home a high salary.
Though tea, especially green tea, is growing in popularity in the U.S., we can’t help but wonder if our coffee sweetening habits would be more revealing if the same survey were done in America.
