5 Easy Tips to Finally Stop Feeling Tired and Sluggish All Day

Tags:

Did you know that most people self-sabotage their sleep by indulging in bad bedtime habits? These behaviors can actually prevent you from sleeping soundly four to seven nights per week, which can naturally lead you to feel tired during the day.

Research by the bed brand Silentnight found that 73 percent of people know that habits, including scrolling on social media, drinking alcohol, smoking, and shopping, can result in a lack of sleep and have a negative impact on their mental and physical health — but proceed to do them anyway.

A spokesperson for Silentnight’s Wellbeing Collection, Hayley Chaytor, said: “It’s interesting to see that while so many of us are looking to improve our sleep, the majority of us know that our pre-bed evening routines are impacting our lack of shut-eye.”

“What’s more, scientific research shows that better quality sleep has benefits for overall health and wellness, meaning sleeping well can make achieving other resolutions simpler too,” she adds. Like increasing our energy levels, right?

After you’ve kicked your bad bedroom routine and sleep deprivation, it’s time to focus on these factors that leave you feeling lethargic.

How to Stop Feeling Tired

Are you looking for easy ways to stop feeling shattered and give you an energy boost? There are lots of actions you can take.

Physical activity: Exercising is a fabulous way you can boost energy levels. When you feel a mid-afternoon slump coming on, try doing ten jumping-jacks and see how you feel afterwards.

Get an early night: This sounds simple, but if you avoid naps and take time to chill out before bed, you’ll feel more alert in the morning.

Say no to booze: One or two drinks might help you feel relaxed, but you’ll pay for it with restlessness the next day. Instead, treat yourself to a “nightcap” an hour before bed like banana peel tea (it sounds weird but it works!).

Look away from the screen regularly: If you’re working from home right now, this is super important. Every twenty minutes or so, look away from your laptop or computer for approximately 20 seconds. Don’t use this time to look at your phone.

Talk to your doctor: Are you finding that tiredness is having a massive effect on your day-to-day life? Contact a medical professional who’ll be able to give you advice about any medical conditions that may be occurring.

Now that you understand what you need to do, you can get a better night’s sleep!
