This Tropical Juice May Relieve Joint Pain, Boost Immunity, and Promote Heart Health

Despite the fact that the Polynesian people have sipped on noni juice for over 2,000 years, we’ve only just begun hearing about this incredible drink more recently. Why is it getting so much hype? It’s got a number of incredible purported health benefits.

What is noni juice?

Like many fruits, noni juice, which derived from the Morinda citrifolia tree, is rich in antioxidants. These are best known for killing compounds called free radicals that damage cells over time. In stopping those free radicals, the drink can help slow signs of aging and a number of health conditions, including cancer, diabetes, and more. Other studies have also looked into noni’s effects on arthritis and similar joint pain and inflammation disorders, and participants have reported a decrease in severity and frequency in joint pain after drinking it daily for up to three months.

On top of those potential benefits for everyone, certain studies looking into the juice have focused on its impact on smokers. Research has found that it may lessen cellular damage and promote better heart health for them.

What are the side effects of noni juice?

Noni juice is generally safe to drink, though scientists do caution that people with a history of liver problems and kidney disease or kidney failure should stay away from it, as should folks who are on blood thinners.

Scientists are still relatively early in their research into noni juice, but so far they’ve found that drinking up to 25 ounces per day is considered safe.

While some specialty stores might sell noni juice depending on your area, you’ll most likely have to find brands online to buy from, like Optimally Organic (Buy on Amazon, $19.95). You’ll notice that many offerings don’t solely contain noni since the taste can be bitter. Most will contain other juices, like grape or blueberry concentrate.

When looking at the various options, one of the most important aspects to pay attention to is sugar content. The juice will have sugar given that it’s a fruit, but often some brands will add even more sugar to mask that naturally bitter taste. If you notice additional agave syrup, high-fructose corn syrup, or other artificial sweeteners on the ingredient list, consider going with a different brand. Regardless, it’s worth giving noni juice a shot!
