Even as responsible grown-ups, we know that drinking water isn't all that fun. Not only is water dull and tasteless, but we're usually too busy to remember to grab a bottle on our way out the door. And if it's hard for us to manage getting in enough hydration, it's even harder for kids — until now.
When you're a kid, water is a (for the lack of a better description) boring beverage. It's not cool like Kool-Aid or yummy and sweet like grape juice, but you do need to drink it daily as much as you can. Which is exactly why we were so excited to hear about "The Gululu" —a high-tech, interactive water bottle designed with kids in mind.
How does it work?
The Gululu ($79, Amazon) turns drinking water into a game. Each bottle is brightly colored (available in Mermaid Pink, Bowhead Blue, and Submarine Yellow) and has an LCD screen on the front that displays a virtual pet. This virtual character engages with the child and reminds them to drink water through a genius story made by the creators.

In hopes of getting children to drink more water, the creators of Gululu made a storyline to go with the water bottles. Each water bottle holds a water pet who lives on planet Ima. Unfortunately, after a huge blast, the planet became ruined by pollution — and the only way to fix it is to rehabilitate the planet with new, clean water. Every time he or she drinks water, the child gets "rewarded" for helping to restore the "vitality water" on planet Ima. The Gululu even has an app that synchs the child's drinking data and gameplay, so you can keep track of how much water they're actually drinking.
In addition to helping your child stay hydrated, Gululu has also partnered with Generosity.org). For each Gululu interactive bottle purchased, one child in a developing country will be provided with a lifetime of clean drinking water.
As most of us know, products that keep kids healthy and entertained are pretty much the gold standard when you're a parent. And the Gululu is so cool, we wish we'd had one growing up!
