Carolyn Hartz loves to bake, and loves to eat what she bakes, but you'd never know it from looking at her toned body--or her birth certificate. This grandmother (yes, grandmother) is (are you sitting down?) 68 years old. And she looks better in a bikini than most people on the beach!
So how does she do it? The title of her latest cookbook should tip you off: Sugar Free Baking, available in October 2015. When she was 41, she was often dizzy and learned she was pre-diabetic. She decided to drastically limit sugar and flour, opting instead for the natural sugar substitute, xylitol. Though her treats are sugar- and flour-free (Hartz also has a gluten intolerance), she vows you'd never know it. With delicious-sounding recipes like vanilla layer cake and cashew and chocolate biscuits, we just may have to test them out.
