Our hot chocolate recipe uses a secret ingredient to get that same nutty, toasty flavor as your favorite campfire treat: cookie butter.
This lesser-known toast topper, called Biscoff, is popular in Britain, but it gets its simpler name from the process by which it’s made: grinding up cookies into a spreadable sweet. Yes, that’s right–it’s like peanut butter, but made out of cookies.
Through our obsession with this addictive item–which you can find on the shelves of certain grocery stores, like Trader Joe’s–we discovered that a hefty spoonful mixed into a piping hot mug of cocoa gives the whole thing a graham cracker-like flavor that’s phenomenal. (It’s gotta be good if it’s going to get us to stop eating the spread straight from the jar with a spoon, after all!)
But that’s not all that makes this the best hot chocolate you’ve ever tasted. We managed to make our version of the delicious winter drinks ultra-indulgent thanks to one secret ingredient you might already have in your pantry right now. Watch the short video below to discover what we use as our secret weapon in making it thick and creamy!
