How to Make the Fiber-Rich, Skin-Boosting Smoothie Reese Witherspoon Drinks Every Day

Tags:

We know beautiful stars like Reese Witherspoon have glam squads to help them look their best at award shows and public events. But even when she’s not walking a red carpet, the Legally Blonde actress still maintains a gorgeous glow thanks to a skin-boosting smoothie she sips every single day.

And thankfully, Witherspoon shared the fiber-rich green smoothie recipe she’s relied on for nearly a decade with fans on her Instagram page. It starts with two full heads of romaine lettuce, plus a handful of spinach (about half a cup). Don’t worry if you don’t have those exact ingredients though. Witherspoon explains that it can really be made with whatever greens you have, as long as you have plenty of it.

Next, all of those leafy veggies need some sweetening up. To balance out the bitterness, Witherspoon adds a whole apple, pear, banana, and lemon to her recipe. You don’t even have to bother extracting the lemon seeds — they’ll get mixed right up and add extra fiber!

Then it’s time for the liquid: Witherspoon opts for a half cup of coconut water, but regular water works too. The actress also lists extras like almond butter, flax seed, and protein powder that can be added at this point.

After everything’s chopped up and ready to go, it’s time to get blending! The recipe makes enough for two smoothies, so you can share with a loved one or keep the leftovers in the fridge for the next day.

Witherspoon credits her Little Fires Everywhere co-star Kerry Washington for tipping her off about the recipe, but it was long before they shared a screen. “I sat next to her at an award show and I didn’t really know her, but I said, ‘Your skin is so beautiful, what do you do?’ And she said, ‘I actually think it’s from this drink… It’s just really changed my skin, and it makes my hair and nails really strong.’”

Along with the health and beauty boosts, Witherspoon says it also happens to taste great — even if the green hue might make some think otherwise. Plus, it keeps her full all morning long without a heavy breakfast. Sounds like a winner to us!
