It’s good news, then, that there’s a very easy trick for removing those tomato skins — with very little work for you. (Always a plus!)

This tip comes from food TikToker @JaxFoodHacks. Here’s how it works: Take your tomatoes and slice them in half, then drizzle olive oil in a pan and set it to medium heat. Wait a few minutes for the pan to warm up, and add your tomatoes cut side down. Put a lid over the pan, and set a timer for five minutes. Once you come back, presto: You’ll be able to remove the skins straight from the tomatoes by just pinching them.

So simple, right? Now it’s time to take that hack and make tomato-based dishes to your heart’s content, whether that’s pasta with a delicious homemade marinara sauce or grilled cheese with a tasty tomato soup. After all, tomatoes are a great source of antioxidants as well as vitamin C, vitamin K, and potassium, which can help prevent cancer and heart disease. Why not include a few more in your meals?
