Milk and Oreos go hand in hand — everybody knows that. But did you know you can combine the two humble ingredients for a super-moist, gooey, sweet-tooth satisfying mug cake? You’ll never go back to simply dunking the cookies after trying this easy recipe!
All you need is a handful of Oreos, about five or six depending on the size of your mug, and enough milk to almost but not quite cover the cookies. Use a fork to break up the Oreos until it looks more like a cake batter. Then pop that into the microwave for a minute or two — checking every 30 second or so — and voila! You’ve magically transformed your crunchy cookies into a mini-lava cake.
Since there are always Oreos in my house, I obviously had to give the recipe a try myself. Take a look to see my results:
It’s a little hard to tell because of the dark batter, but trust me when I say it was delightfully warm and oozing with delicious chocolatey flavor.
The recipe has been gaining traction lately thanks to an Instagram user sharing how she whips up the mug cake, but she took it one step further by adding in small chocolate candy to the middle. Check it out below:
Whether you follow her extra-sweet addition of candy or just go with the Oreos and milk on their own, there’s no doubt you’ll be pleased by the result.
This has also inspired us to experiment with more of the cookies we like to keep stocked in our kitchen. Chocolate chip, anyone? Or maybe even smashing up three ingredient peanut butter cookies can work, too!
There will probably still be times when all you want is the actual cookies and milk, but you’ll be glad you can take your dessert game up a notch without dirtying up mixing bowls!
