Ina Garten Shares the Easy, 30-Minute Meal She Is Going to Cook for Her First Post-Pandemic Dinner Party

Life is slowly returning to normal in the U.S. as more and more people are getting vaccinated every day. Like many of us, beloved cooking show host and author Ina Garten is ready to get back to it and host many of her vaccinated friends in the coming season. In fact, Garten recently shared the recipe she wants to cook first when she finally gets to see her pals after quarantining for the past 14 months. It must be pretty special if she’s already picked it out!

So, what’s the dish? Garten wrote on Instagram she’s going to make her new spring green spaghetti carbonara. It’s a perfect springy twist on an Italian classic, and as the title suggests, it combines a spaghetti carbonara — complete with a thick egg coating, parmesan cheese, and pancetta — with a sea of delicious veggies. These include asparagus and snow peas (which you can heat up while your pasta and pancetta are cooking!) as well as scallions and chives. Garten’s other secret to giving such a rich dish a lighter flavor? She adds a splash of lemon juice and lemon zest to the recipe to keep it fresh.

And in true Ina Garten fashion, she even suggested a wine pairing for the meal. She’s going with a Chablis, but it sounds like any white wine will do to keep things light. She really thought of everything!

Just take one look at her creation and admit you’d eat this in a heartbeat:

Even better, unlike a few of Garten’s more labor-intensive dishes, this recipe doesn’t take long to put together. You can get it done from start to finish in around 30 minutes. A quick, delicious meal that combines the best of Italian cooking with fresh spring flavors? You can definitely count us in!
