Häagen-Dazs Reveals the Top Ice Cream Flavors of 2020 — You’ll Never Guess #1
People stuck to the classics for comfort this year.
It has been a tough year for everyone, so it’s no surprise we’ve been leaning on our favorite comfort foods to get us through. This includes a ton of people reaching for a classic ice cream flavor.
According to stats from Häagen-Dazs, their most popular flavor of 2020 was good ol’ vanilla. It seems like everyone had enough surprises popping up this year and decided to keep their dessert choices simple. That said, at least one fancier flavor made it into the top five. Take a look:

- Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond Bar
- Butter Pecan
We can’t say we’re too surprised by these results, considering vanilla took the number two spot in 2019. However, it’s also the only flavor from last year’s list that made it back onto the rankings again. Cookies and Cream, Dulce de Leche, Belgian chocolate, and regular chocolate were all among the favorites last year, but are nowhere to be seen this time around.
Ice cream fans did stray from the classics every now and then, though. When they did, shoppers reached for more indulgent flavors like Caramel Cone, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle.
They also likely got those tubs delivered to them, judging by the fact that Google saw a more than 200 percent increase in folks searching “ice cream delivery” in 2020. But whether they went to a store to pick up the treat themselves or had it brought to their door, people have been satisfying their sweet tooth over the weekend more often than the weekdays, Häagen-Dazs reports. It makes sense we all need to wind down with a treat after a long week of working from home.
Another telling stat from the company: Shoppers hit up their Spirits Collection of boozy ice cream more than any other specific line of flavors. We certainly don’t blame anyone for wanting a little extra help taking the edge off this year!
Whether you’ve been digging into vanilla or more indulgent options, it’s nice to know our favorite ice cream will always be there for us — no matter how hectic the rest of the world gets.
