Apple Almond Butter ‘Bagels’


Looking for a new snack with staying power? Forget peanut butter slathered on toast and opt for its healthier — not to mention tastier — sidekick: almond butter. Packed with three times more vitamin E and seven times more calcium than peanut butter (according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture), almond butter is also loaded with fiber to help you feel fuller, longer.

And rather than spreading it on bread or crackers, cram in even more good-for-you nutrients by using these delicious apple “bagels” instead. This snack practically has the royal seal of approval: Princess-to-be Meghan Markle is known to snack on an apple and almond butter for a pick-me-up every now and again! In fact, we heard she even she likes her Apple Almond Butter “Bagels” sprinkled with a little sea salt.


  • 1 apple

  • 2 Tbsp. almond butter

  • 1 tsp. honey

  • Sprinkle of cinnamon

  • 2 Tbsp. sliced almonds


1. To core the apple and cut into “bagels,” cut off the top and bottom of the apple horizontally. Slice the rest of the apple horizontally into 1/2-inch rounds.

2. Use a sharp knife to cut a hole in the center of each apple slice to remove the core.

3. After coring the apple, spread each apple slice with almond butter and drizzle with honey.

4. Sprinkle the slices with cinnamon and sliced almonds and serve!

Nutrition information (per serving): 217 calories, 6 grams protein, 22 grams carbohydrates, 5 grams fiber, 15 grams sugar, 0 grams cholesterol, 87 miligrams calcium, 302 miligrams potassium, 14 grams total fat, 1 gram saturated fat.
