Brutally Honest Mom’s Controversial Idea for Turning Little Boys into Helpful Husbands Just May Catch on

Some say honesty is the best policy, and this mom couldn’t agree more–especially when it comes to parenting styles. The best way to raise kids, this mom asserts, is by not praising them too much, and she just might convince you.

Tova Leigh, mom and blogger behind My Thoughts About Stuff, wants you to stop telling your kids they did a good job tidying up their rooms when all they did was pick up one or two things. But her argument isn’t just about their actions now; telling them they did a good job by half-cleaning one thing has repercussions for the future women in your sons’ lives, she argues.

The son who is raised believing it’s OK to simply move something close to where it belongs is the future husband who will only put his dirty coffee mug by the sink instead of in it, or in the dish washer, or washing it, she claims. But only about half the Internet is buying her point.

Her video, which she posted to YouTube and Facebook, has spread around the Internet like wildfire and is causing many a heated parenting debate. She doesn’t stop at tidiness, either! Watch the full video below to hear her thoughts on praising your kids, whether it’s for chores or their artwork from school:
