This Girl and Her Service Dog Are the Biggest Hit at School Dances for the Most Unexpected Reason

Dogs may be man’s best friend, but they make pretty great Prom dates, too. Just ask Erin Condrin, a teen from Queensland, Australia, whose service dog Lacey recently donned a dress to chaperone her human to the formal.

Lacey supports Erin as she copes with her Classical Type Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that makes even some everyday tasks difficult due to joint instability (among other symptoms). She can suffer up to 20 different joint dislocations a day, according to The Chive–but Lacey’s always there to help. The loyal golden picks up dropped items for Erin, presses light switches, and even carries things for her, so it’s only natural for the two to become very attached.

That’s why it was simply unimaginable for Erin to attend the big dance without her furry friend, and even a dog can’t attend a formal without the proper attire. “Lacey has many different costumes, so it was natural she’d have a dress that matched mine. We asked my very talented dressmaker if she’d sew Lacey a skirt out of the left over material from my dress, and she was all for it,” Erin said.

You can see the two in their matching dresses below:

But that’s not the only time Lacey donned a dress! For Christmas, the pooch was even primped and presented in festive tutu (below).

But when it came to the school dance, the two of them positively stole the show. Everyone from the hairdressers at the salon where Erin got her hair done to the students attending the dance wanted photos of the cute couple–and we can easily see why. Check out more photos of the duo below.
