Mom Learns Daughter Is Teasing Needy Girls, Makes Her Pay Ultimate Price

One of the trickier parts of raising kids is disciplining them–and figuring out the right balance between punishment and crime. For Ally Olsen, a mom in Utah, there was never any doubt that she had to get creative when she found out her step-daughter, Kaylee, was saying mean things about another classmate’s clothes.
After a talking-to about bullying didn’t change the girl’s behavior, Olsen decided to go shopping with the 11-year-old fashionista. Instead of taking her to the mall, though, the Utah mom took her to the thrift store and had her pick out the outfits she found ugliest. After Kaylee picked two, Olsen bought them–then made Kaylee wear them to school over the course of two days.
When her friends teased her for wearing such ugly clothes, Kaylee learned a lesson in empathy the hard way. But, as she told the correspondent from Good Morning America back in 2013 when this story first aired, she didn’t regret it one bit.
