Savannah Guthrie’s Husband Says He’s the ‘Luckiest Guy in the World’

Tags:

As the co-anchor of TODAY, Savannah Guthrie is the person who millions of TV viewers wake up every morning to — but who does she wake up to? As it turns out, her husband, 49-year-old Mike Feldman, is a big deal in his own right!

After graduating with honors from Tufts University, Mike started his career working in the Senate — first as a floor assistant in the Senate Cloakroom and then as a legislative analyst for the Senate Democratic Policy Committee. In 1992, Mike joined Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign staff. Once the team made it to the White House, Mike served Vice President Al Gore as deputy director of legislative affairs. In fact, he was even Gore’s chief of staff during the 2000 election and ranked among the advisers pushing for Gore to contest the election results.

These days, Mike works as the managing director of the Glover Park Group — a strategic communications and government affairs firm he started in 2001 with other former Gore advisers. The team collaborated with their old boss when they did award-winning PR work for Gore’s climate change documentary, An Inconvenient Truth.

Mike started dating Savannah around 2009 (the same year she divorced BBC News presenter Mark Orchard). He got down on bended knee in Turks and Caicos in 2013. When she revealed the news on TODAY, Mike called into the show and admitted he was nervous to ask for Savannah’s hand in marriage “but figured there’d be a secondary market for diamonds like that.”

“I was very, very, very happy when she said yes,” he added. “I’m the luckiest guy in the world.” Since then, the couple has welcomed two children— daughter Vale, 3, and son Charley, 1. Seems like they’re both happier “today” than ever before!
