From voicing the lead in a Disney movie to portraying a woman with rapidly progressing Alzheimer’s, Moore’s skill set obviously has a wide range. But if you’re only familiar with a few of her roles, keep reading to see our eight favorite Mandy Moore movies and TV shows.

6. Because I Said So (2007): Mandy Moore movies and TV shows

In the early 2000s, Moore had a phase of starring in romantic comedies and full-blown romances, and Because I Said So was no different. Starring alongside Diane Keaton and Gabriel Macht, Moore portrayed Milly, a girl dealing with her meddling mother who is insistent on setting her up with the right man.

5. The Princess Diaries (2001)

For this 2001 movie, Moore stepped into the shoes of mean girl Lana Thomas. After Mia (Anne Hathaway) finds out she is an heir to the throne of Genovia, she tries to navigate her normal life as well as her blossoming future as a queen. Moore is a great addition to the cast as the popular girl, spreading rumors about Mia and revealing her secrets to the entire student body.

4. Dr. Death (2021-2023): Mandy Moore movies and TV shows

This chilling crime drama is a major change for the romance actress, but she proves up to the task. Dr. Death details the true stories of ambitious doctors that allowed their egos to get in the way of their medical practices, often harming or killing patients. Moore portrays Benita Alexander, who exposed her con artist fiancé for his crimes.

Moore explained the thrill of taking on this new role: “It was just so out of my wheelhouse, and I found it so incredibly compelling and engaging.”

3. Tangled (2010)

Tangled was a lucky treat for audiences as they not only got Moore as a Disney princess, but she also got to use her musical background for the role. “Recording the music was one of the biggest highlights for me,” she shared in an interview. “I’d never experienced working on a sound stage with a 65-piece orchestra before … I was thinking to myself, ‘Wow … Remember this experience, Mandy. This is a special, once-in-a-lifetime moment.’”

This reimagined version of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale follows Rapunzel, a young girl with long blonde, magical hair who has spent her whole life locked up in a tower. But when a thief stumbles upon her corner of the world, she gets to experience the world and its joys for the first time.

2. A Walk to Remember (2002): Mandy Moore movies and TV shows

This classic Nicholas Sparks book turned movie stars the actress as the shy, religious Jamie Sullivan. Different from her peers, Jamie is often on the outside of things. But when she meets bad boy Landon Carter (Shane West), both of their worlds turn upside down.

The sweet, emotional story resonated with fans, but it’s likely that the connection between Moore and Shane West had a lot to do with it. “Somehow, we sort of just had this really natural, effortless chemistry with one another,” she shared. “And I think that comes across in the film and that’s hard to get. You can’t really fake that.”

Moore’s most notable role to date is that of Rebecca Pearson on This is Us. The award-winning drama was a massive hit, highlighting the lives of an ordinary family in the form of the Pearsons. From its formation through the death of patriarch Jack to everything that happens in between (and in the aftermath), few shows have utilized flashbacks — and flash-forwards — as effectively as This is Us did.

Moore’s character goes through everything a young woman, turned wife and mom would, as well as an aging woman falling in love again and dealing with an impending disease. Moore explained that while portraying an older Rebecca was difficult, she knew the task was an important one.

I was heartbroken when I read the story line. For a character who has been handed some difficult challenges in her life, this just felt like an even tougher blow … It was so important for us to portray this complicated journey accurately to honor the experiences of so many families.”
