We’ve all heard the old adage, “opposites attract.” Although this more literally refers to magnetic poles in science, there’s proof that it can be true for two completely different types of people in a relationship. Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin are one of the most famous examples of a couple who maintains a strong marriage despite being nothing alike.
When asked about their secret to success, Rinna joked on LIVE With Kelly and Ryan, “I don’t know, I’m the third wife, so three times is a charm, maybe.” We’re sure the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star brings a lot of her own charm to the table, too. She went on to describe just how different she and her husband are. “We have nothing in common — and I truly mean that. Like, zero. He’s into rockets and astrophysics. I’m into shopping.” Despite being so different, the couple have been married for 22 years and have two daughters, Delilah Belle (21) and Amelia Gray (18).
Aside from luck, Rinna also stressed open communication as one of the most important aspects of their relationship — especially when discussing things they like in the bedroom. This actually inspired her to write her book, The Big, Fun, Sexy Sex Book ($16.99, Amazon). “It is such a crucial aspect in a relationship and it’s something that some couples slowly forget to acknowledge as much as they did at the beginning of their relationship,” she explained to Star. “Harry and I have been together for over 20 years, but we still have to make an effort to talk about it and have discussions. I think that’s something most couples forget to do, or put on the back-burner in a marriage.”
At the end of the day, though, it all boils down to the fact that they’re simply crazy about each other. “And you can’t create that,” Rinna claimed. “You can’t make it — it either is, or it isn’t.” Hamlin agreed, “We never get tired of each other’s stories.”
Here’s to even more happy years for this beautiful couple!
