Kevin Bacon Has a Bizarre (But Genius) Trick to Pre-Slice Bananas for Kyra Sedgwick
He'll do whatever it takes to make his wife happy.
Kevin Bacon is a man of many talents, both on screen and apparently, in the kitchen. Recently, the actor proved that his culinary skills go far beyond his foodie last name.
While preparing a sweet breakfast for his wife, Kyra Sedgwick, Bacon divulged to his Instagram followers that her breakfast of choice is freshly sliced bananas on poundcake. The only problem? “If I slice them too early, they turn brown,” he whispered, trying not wake her up.
But with a little imagination, he was able to come up with a genius (and sort of bizarre) trick for slicing the fruit without ever taking it out of the peel. That’s right, it’s possible to portion a banana without peeling it. All you need is a needle, thread, and maybe some determination for serving up the best morning meal for your loved one.

Sure, you could just wait to peel and slice the banana all at once, but where’s the fun in that? And although Bacon’s process might be a bit over-the-top, there’s no denying it works great!
It’s also clear that Bacon goes above and beyond when it comes to his wife. The actor’s Instagram feed is full of heartfelt tributes to Sedgwick on holidays, anniversaries, or “just because,” like the adorable throwback photo below:
The couple even enjoy working together. They recently teamed up on Bacon’s Showtime series City on a Hill, with Sedgwick directing an episode in its first season. However, the actor admitted she had to remind him to be a bit less handsy on set. He told Stephen Colbert, “We’re very affectionate people, you know. She said to me once, ‘Please don’t touch me there, you know, while we’re working.”
Although we understand Sedgwick wanting to keep things professional, it’s super endearing to know they’ve kept their sparks flying after more than 32 years of marriage! We’re sure there will be plenty more cute content from them both in the years to come, too.
