This $9 Essential Oil Helps Keep Jane Seymour Looking Youthful

Beloved actress Jane Seymour is busy like all of us are during the holiday season, but that doesn’t mean she slouches on her beauty routine!

Seymour has a number of different skincare tricks she turns to, but above all else, she likes to keep her regimen simple and natural — something she learned about from her mom. “My mother, before [World War II], actually had her own skincare line called Lavender,” she tells First for Women. “When she went into a concentration camp in Indonesia, she took her recipes, books, and whatever supplies she could. Her dream for after the war was her skincare line, but [instead] she married my father.” Her mother’s love for beauty products led Seymour to partner with Crépe Erase, in the hopes of living out that dream herself. (Try their Advanced Body Repair Treatment: $79 from Ulta.)

Seymour has also long been a fan of her mom’s favorite essential oil: lavender. (One to try: Aura Cacia Pure Essential Oil, $9 from iHerb.) “My trick for skincare is to exfoliate my face very carefully, using my hands, both in the morning and at night, and to exfoliate my body using a nylon sponge that’s slightly abrasive. I protect my skin from the sun and then hydrate skin with essential oils [like lavender],” she explains. “Anywhere I have crepey skin on my body, I use alpha hydroxy acid. I can’t afford downtime in getting peels … so if I do that every day, I’m okay.”

Beauty regimen aside, she got more from her mother than just her love of skincare. “Like my mother, I’m clearly a survivor,” she reflects. “My mother was still able to laugh and find the positive in life and people until the day before she had a stroke at 92. She lived in the now and that’s what I take from her.” What a beautiful life lesson!

Don’t forget to pick up the latest issue of First for Women, available on newsstands now (or available online from our Magazine Shop, $3.49), where Jane Seymour talks more about her favorite holiday traditions, her bond with her mother, and more.
