Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton Continue to Be One of Hollywood’s Cutest Couples

Their love makes us want to sing too.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton may be competitors on TV, but in their personal lives, they’re the ultimate husband and wife team. On September 19, they’ll remind us again why we love them so much, when they return to coach hopeful contestants on the 22nd season of The Voice.

Even though the duo will be battling each other for bragging rights as best coach, Stefani feels like she’s won a victory before the season even begins. She told People, “[This season] is different. [Shelton] is my husband. That’s crazy! I already won. I already won. I can’t win again, right?”

Though Shelton has been on all 21 seasons of The Voice (and is its most successful coach, having produced eight of its winners), this season marks Stefani’s first time on the show since 2020, and her first time on the show as Shelton’s wife.

“I was a little bit nervous about it, actually, going back, just because I hadn’t been there for a  while. We’re married now. It does change, you know what I’m saying?” she told Today. “I don’t know why I was nervous, but as soon as I walked off set, it felt very nostalgic, like when I met him and then it just was, like, easy … it was great. This season, for me, has probably been my most relaxed season.”

Stefani isn’t the only one who’s feeling sentimental. In last year’s 10th anniversary special episode of The Voice, which taped just before the two were married, Shelton said, “People ask me all the time, ‘What’s the greatest thing that has happened for you since you’ve been on The Voice?’ That’s a no brainer-right? I met my fiancée here. It’s hard to resist Gwen Stefani.’” He continued, “I love it when she’s here. She brings a very complicated element of competition, for me in particular. But I love that. I love the challenge. Just knowing that she’s there, and she has my back, is pretty cool.”

The country singer and pop star dated for over five years, quickly becoming one of America’s favorite celebrity couples — Shelton admitted he even wrote a song to impress Stefani before they started dating. They got engaged in October 2020, and married on July 3 of last year. According to Today, the intimate wedding ceremony was held on Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch. Approximately 40 friends and family members attended. They took their vows in a chapel that Shelton built specifically for his bride-to-be.

Since getting married, Shelton and Stefani split their time between the Oklahoma ranch and a home they share in Los Angeles. Together, they’re raising Stefani’s three children from a previous marriage — Kingston, 16, Zuma, 14, and Apollo, 8. As if the couple wasn’t sweet enough, Shelton has been openly enthusiastic about his role as stepfather to the three boys due to his own father’s influence on him. “My dad did it. My dad raised me. I could [raise children too]. I didn’t know what I was signing up for, but I was all about signing up for it. And every day I’ve fallen in love with the boys as much as I do with Gwen,” he said at the Country Radio Seminar earlier this year.

We’re looking forward to seeing their love grow while competing on The Voice this season. Tune in to NBC on Monday, September 19 for the premiere of season 22.
