There’s a Strange Rumor Going Around That Darlene Conner (aka Sara Gilbert) From ‘Roseanne’ Died

Wait, what?! With the new Roseanne reboot soon coming to TV, many die-hard fans of the hit sitcom have been posing interesting questions about the upcoming series. But, weirdly, lots of people are wondering if character Darlene Conner — played by Sara Gilbert — somehow died on the show.
So, let’s clear things up once and for all. Darlene did not pass away on Roseanne, nor did actress Sara die in real life. Though we’re not totally sure where this rumor about Darlene dying came from, we’re guessing it might have something to do with the reboot’s plot being totally different from the original show.
See amazing facts about Roseanne you probably never knew.
When the blue-collar sitcom came to an end after nine seasons back in 1997, protagonist Roseanne Conner (played by Roseanne Barr confessed her beloved husband, Dan Conner (John Goodman), tragically died of a heart attack. Additionally, it was revealed that the entire show was actually a story written by Roseanne about her life but major elements of the plot — including the Conners winning $108 million in the Illinois lottery — were actually fiction.
But, according to the cast, the remake’s storyline changes everything back. Thankfully, Dan will be alive in the reboot. We also know Darlene and her husband, David Healy (Johnny Galecki), are still married and are now parents-of-two. Main characters D.J. Conner (Michael Fishman), Becky Conner (Lecy Goranson), and Jackie Harris (Laurie Metcalf) are also set to return. Sarah Chalke — who played Becky in Seasons 6 through 9 — will additionally appear in the reboot, but in a different role, the details of which are being kept under wraps at this time.

Another reason why gossip could be circulating about Darlene’s make-believe death is that former Roseanne star Glenn Quinn did tragically pass away after the show wrapped 20 years ago. Glenn sadly died on Dec. 3, 2002, at age 32 from an accidental heroin overdose. He was found by a friend on a couch in Hollywood at the time of his passing. We’re hopeful the new Roseanne reboot will find a way to honor Glenn’s memory.
