After Her Little Girl Exposed Her Chest in Store, Mom Surprisingly Posts the Revealing Photo on Facebook
When our kids or grandkids do something cute, or wacky, or simply bizarre, our first instinct is to grab our phones and snap a pic. Then post it to the social media of our choice. And that’s what this mom did. As her 2-year-old daughter, Charlotte, sat in the shopping cart, she suddenly announced that her “baby” was crying and began lifting her shirt.
The “baby” was Charlotte’s doll, who, according to the toddler, was crying from hunger. Of course the mom posted two photos of Charlotte “nursing” her baby to Facebook with the caption: “You know you’re a breastfeeding mother when you look over to the middle of the store to your toddler saying “Baby cry, baby just wants eat…” Then she followed up with numerous hashtags, including #normalizebreastfeeding. The day after she posted her pics, the hateful comments appeared. Apparently, one woman commented that this was the “nastiest” thing she’d seen (though she used an earthier expression than “thing”). She told the mom that she should be punched in the face for thinking it was okay for her daughter to pretend to nurse.
After that, the mom looked for support from the moms at Breastfeeding Mama Talk. “I still am breastfeeding Charlotte (2) and I formula fed my son, Bentley (5) and I am open to both, both are equally wonderful,” she wrote. Then she wondered what was the difference between a kid giving her doll a bottle and pretending to breastfeed. Both were examples of kids feeding their toys and mimicking adult behavior.
People soon jumped in with photos and anecdotes about their children, girls and boys, nursing their stuffed animals and dolls. They reassured Charlotte’s mom that it was perfectly normal toddler behavior. But what do you think?
