Adele is a ‘Single Cat Lady’ and There’s Nothing Wrong With That
If you didn’t have a chance to catch Adele on the October 24 episode of SNL, my did you miss a spectacular performance, and you should watch it right away on Hulu! The British singer appeared as the host (not musical guest this time, as her new album isn’t out yet) and she gave us a stunning show, acting in several hilarious sketches alongside the SNL cast. The Grammy winner has since been the talk of the town, and there seems to be some confusion going around about her relationship status — which she felt the need to clear up.
Reports have been emerging claiming that Adele is in fact romantically involved with another artist from the UK, rapper Skepta, who is also from her hometown of Tottenham, London. So Adele took to Instagram to clear the air.
“Had the best time on SNL! Thank you to the most wonderful cast, crew, writers and producers. What a sublime bunch of people you are. Lorne thank you for believing in me! Lindsay my sister for life, Maya my comedy and Mama hero! Plus the so up for it audiences at both the dress rehearsal and live show!,” she captioned the photo. “I did it for the joy of it and I hope you got some from it too! Good luck with the election America I love you so much. Look after each other and go easy on yourselves. Happy Halloween! I’m going back to my cave now to be the (single) cat lady that I am! Peace out til next year ♥️.”
Though sources have told publications like People that “things have been heating up” between Adele and Skepta and that the two have gone on “several dates,” it appears that the relationship (for now, at least) is purely platonic. Here, Adele clearly and proudly proclaims that she is a single cat lady, and hey, we can certainly relate.
The relationship between Adele and Skepta is no doubt an interesting one. The two have maintained a close friendship for some time, and Skepta credits Adele for being a major motivating influence in his music career. “Adele texts me all the time and keeps me in check. She speaks to me about how things are going,” he told the Evening Standard. She’s one of the people I know that, from her [example] alone, you can move in a certain way where you’re not inviting fame. She’s the biggest artist in the world, bro, and you do not see her in the papers [every day].” How sweet!
As far as single cat ladies go, we have to say we’re pretty proud of Adele. Since splitting with her now ex-husband Simon Konecki back in 2019, the star has clearly been on the up and up. Back in October of 2019, she shared a photo on Instagram debuting some pretty impressive weight loss, captioning the pic, “I used to cry, but now I sweat.” Hear, hear, sister!
Adele clearly has a lot more to focus on than being in a relationship — like her cat, her adorable 8-year-old son, Angelo, and herself! That being said, we can’t wait to see what’s next in store for her, and we’re eagerly anticipating the release of her next album.
