3 Coffee Shop-Inspired Drinks That’ll Help Burn Extra Calories, Curb Cravings, and Flush Fat

We all could use a caffeine boost from time to time, but without the extra calories that comes with buying a sugar-filled coffee drink. Luckily, you can recreate those coffee shop-style drinks at home with these three healthy and delicious sips!
Boosts metabolism
A single cup of coffee can help you burn an extra 150 calories a day — enough to shed 16 pounds each year. Thanks goes to the caffeine, which investigators reporting in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition say prods cells to burn more energy to generate body heat.
Curbs Cravings
A cup of joe in the morning can reduce blood-sugar fluctuations by 50 percent, plus ward off all-day cravings, say USDA scientists. That’s because the brew brims with chlorogenic acid, which increases cells’ sensitivity to the blood sugar–regulating hormone insulin.
Flushes ‘False Fat’
Plant compounds in coffee and tea (called polyphenols) help dial down the release of vasopressin, a hormone that causes your body to retain fluids. So much so that you can shed up to four pounds of water weight in a month just by sipping on coffee daily, according to researchers at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
